What 2024 NFL Draft selections by Rams mean for QB Stetson Bennett
USA TODAY Sports

There's been plenty of buzz surrounding the future of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Stetson Bennett since he returned to the team for offseason workouts.

Bennett missing the entirety of his rookie season due to undisclosed personal reasons.

The Georgia product has made positive strides with the Rams since then, seen in a video the Rams posted to their social media at the 43-second mark. He was spotted alongside linebacker Christian Rozeboom.

Rams general manager Les Snead noted when he met with the media in late March that Bennett had been in touch with Rams quarterback coach Dave Ragone while making his return to the team.

"What we've done is, Dave Ragone, our new quarterback coach, had a relationship with Stetson from last year's draft, being in Atlanta, so I know Dave's step one was him connecting with Stetson and rekindling their relationship," Snead said at the NFL Annual Meeting.

Bennett finished out last preseason with the Rams 30-for-62 passing with 307 yards, 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions and remains with the Rams alongside cemented starter Matthew Stafford and a recently signed Jimmy Garoppolo.

The Rams recently finished out another NFL Draft with a whopping 11 selections, four of which were compensatory picks. In what could bode well for the future of Bennett with the team, not a single one of those was a quarterback.

Head coach Sean McVay was asked about the possibility of the Rams taking a quarterback ahead of the draft and did not dismiss it. Clearly though, it was not viewed as a priority.

“I think you leave all options on the table,” McVay said shortly before the draft. “Stetson’s been here. We’re in phase one. It’s been just meetings and then lifting so our ability to get out on the field with the players hasn’t existed yet. That’s the thing that’s the most fun.

“But he’s done a great job being engaged in the meetings. We’ve had a lot of individual meetings up to this point. I know (Quarterbacks Coach) Dave Ragone has really enjoyed his interaction with him throughout the first six days, if you will, with Monday through Thursday last week, and then now being through two days this week and so it’s been good. “I mean, he looks good. He’s had a good look in his eyes. He’s been attentive in the meetings and then I’m looking forward to next week to being able to get out on the grass with all of our players and Stetson being one of them.”

Here's a complete look at who the Rams picked up.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Bennett as he continues his NFL career, and if he remains in Los Angeles for the long-term.

It is always possible the Rams sign another quarterback at some point in the offseason or during the season -- which still sits several months away from now -- but it's hard to take this as anything but a good sign for his camp at the present time.
